End Carriages The End Carriages are welded construction type and fabricated from plates or Std. section type constructions.
Bridge Girders The girders are of plate fabricated box type construction design to sustain all stresses arising due to vertical & lateral forces with impact to which they are subjected. The maximum deflection of the main girder is limited to 1/750 the span of live loads including the weight of the trolley or hoist.
Platform M.S. Checkered plate/anti-skid plate’s full-length platform shall be provided on one side of the bridge girder in double girder crane

    What is a Double Girder Goliath Crane?

    It is a heavy-duty, self-supporting crane built on two parallel bridge girders mounted on two A-frame legs that travel on ground-level rails. Unlike overhead cranes that rely on a building’s runway structure, a goliath crane stands completely on its own.

    The crab trolley mechanism sits on top of the two bridge girders and travels between them. This gives the crane higher hook height, greater lifting capacity, and more structural rigidity than a single girder design — making it the standard choice for the heaviest outdoor lifting applications.

    It handles loads in three directions — vertically via the hoist, laterally via the crab cross travel, and longitudinally via the gantry long travel along the ground rails — covering the full working area with precision.

    It is also known as a Double Girder Gantry Crane, Double Beam Goliath Crane, Heavy Duty Gantry Crane, or Portal Crane in different parts of the industry.

    How Does a Double Girder Goliath Crane Work?

    The crane operates on three basic motions that together give it complete coverage of the working area:

    Hook Up & Down — Hoisting Motion

    The crab hoist raises and lowers the load vertically with fail-safe braking on the hoist motor — the load stays exactly in place even if power is cut.

    Crab Cross Travel — Lateral Movement

    The crab trolley moves left and right on rails mounted on top of the two bridge girders, covering the full working span width.

    Gantry Long Travel — Longitudinal Motion

    The entire gantry structure travels forward and backward along the ground-level runway rails, covering the full length of the working area.

    What is a Double Girder Goliath Crane?

    A Double Beam Goliath Crane is a self-supporting heavy-duty crane built on two parallel bridge girders mounted on A-frame legs that travel on ground-level rails.
