What is a Single Girder EOT Crane?
It is a type of overhead traveling crane that has a single horizontal bridge girder or beam mounted on end trucks on both sides. An electric wire rope hoist runs along the bottom flange of this single beam to lift and move materials horizontally. It lifts and moves loads in three directions — up and down, left and right, and forward and backward — covering every point within the bay.
Because it uses one girder instead of two, a single girder crane is lighter, more compact, and requires less structural headroom than a double girder EOT crane. This makes it a very practical solution for facilities with limited bay height, moderate load requirements and where installation cost is a consideration. How Does a Single Girder EOT Crane Work?
An electric hoist is used to lift and lower the load vertically. This is the primary lifting function and is accomplished with a hoist motor and fail-safe brake.
Trolley Cross Travel - Lateral Movement
The hoist trolley moves left and right along the bottom flange of the bridge girder, over the full width of the bay, and gives the load accuracy in the horizontal plane.
Bridge Long Travel — Longitudinal Motion
The entire crane bridge travels forward and backward along the runway rails, covering the full length of the bay.
